Abstract: At present, the architectural and artistic improvement of the environment of central urban spaces has acquired particular relevance based on the maximum preservation of their historical aspects and the maximum development of their qualities in line with modern aesthetic concepts. This article discusses the basic principles and techniques of architectural and artistic formation of the environment of the central urban spaces in the conditions of the Donetsk region. An important defining aspect is the identification and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage and its context on the one hand, and the maximum consideration of modern requirements, on the other.
