Abstract: In recent times there has been a tendency to compact buildings in cities, large shopping, cultural, entertainment and administrative complexes placement at the minimum permissible distances from residential buildings. Constant «noise pollution» has become a real disaster for residents of modern cities. Noise is a cause of stress, increases fatigability and reduces performance efficacy. Noise attenuation at the source of its occurrence is the most radical way to deal with it. However, measures to reduce the noise of machines, mechanisms and equipment need to be developed already at the design stage. The article discusses the issues of noise protection of ventilation equipment installed on building coverings. Numerical studies of sound pressure levels in the surrounding residential area from the ventilation systems equipment provided by the project were carried out. Effective noise protection measures to ensure regulatory requirements for noise level at the stage of a residential building designing are proposed.

Keywords: noise, ventilation, octave, sound pressure level, screen, residential area.
