International Experience of Architectural and Planning Formation of Skiing Recreational Sports Complexes for Year-Round Use

Abstract: The varieties and peculiarities of architectural-planning formation of skiing recreational sports complexes for year-round use are studied in the present article, the examples of objects from the international experience are analyzed. The aim of the research is to find significant similarities and differences between all-season complexes from the world practice, as well as to reveal their advantages and disadvantages concerning their construction in regions with moderate and warm climate. The study of this topic is very relevant, due to the small distribution of such facilities in the CIS. Domestic and foreign ski complexes of year-round use of various configurations, capacity and types are considered in the material, with a brief description of them. As a result of the study a unique classification for mountain skiing facilities of year-round use is developed, and also the basic tendencies and features of their architectural-planning and composite-artistic formation are defined. The article also touches upon the significance of the use of disturbed areas in the implementation of ski facilities.
