Abstract: The article is devoted to the consideration of the architectural and urban planning support issues for the development of theatrical and entertainment activities as one of the topical areas of modern General Plan of Donetsk improvement. The paper considers both socio-demographic, normative-methodological, theatrical-typological and other questions for the reconstruction of existing theatrical objects of the city, as well as architectural and urban planning aspects for the new object’s construction and placement. The analysis of existing buildings and structures, their orientation, as well as their capacity is carried out. Regulatory documents from the existing regulatory framework of the Russian Federation are considered. Conclusions are drawn that the new General Plan of Donetsk and the agglomeration should provide for the creation of 1–2 new theaters, (the most expected type is dramatic), possibly in the form of a multi-hall theater complex.

Keywords: architectural and urban planning support, the General Plan of Donetsk, theatre buildings and complexes, regulatory and methodological support of the design.
