Abstract: This article is devoted to the peculiarities of the use of land plots of solid waste processing facilities. The basic requirements for the placement of such facilities are considered, as well as questions about the problematic reclamation of such lands and their rational use. Landfills of solid household waste (MSW) have a great impact on the ecological condition of the territory. Landfills cause maximum damage to agricultural resources as a result of chemical pollution. The settlements of the Russian Federation faced problems related not only to the processing of solid waste, but also to the need to prevent environmental accidents related to the operation of existing landfills and the reclamation of suspended ones. The article examines in detail the impact of landfills on the pollution of land, atmospheric air, surface and groundwater. To minimize the negative impact of landfills, an improved method of their rational land use is proposed. The basis of this methodology is geodetic work, engineering and cadastral monitoring using modern geodetic instruments, as well as unmanned aircraft systems. As a best practice in solving the problem of solid waste disposal, examples of foreign countries for the construction of waste recycling plants are considered.
