Rationale for the Feasibility of Revitalizing Inactive Coal Enterprises in the Cities of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR)
Abstract: This article examines the relevance and feasibility of revitalizing inactive coal enterprises in the cities of the Donetsk People’s Republic from the point of view of urban planning and architecture. The reasons for the positive socio-economic effect of revitalization are given, including the restoration of jobs, improvement of infrastructure and the general well-being of the region. The close relationship between the closure of coal mining enterprises and the degradation of not only their own territories, but also the surrounding residential areas is discussed. Possible approaches to the implementation of revitalization programs are considered, taking into account the specifics of this industry and the historical features of the formation of the industrial region. The practical aspects and potential of transition to new types of activities based on non-operating coal mining industrial enterprises are explored in order to ensure sustainable urban development.
