Abstract: Discussion topics come to the fore due to the current situation today in the Donbas among politicians, scientists, members of the public. One such issue is the question of future status of certain regions of Ukraine. The article is devoted to the search for answers to the problematic questions of the formation of statehood of Donetsk-Krivoy Rog republic’s revolutionary period 1917–1919. The author gives his own vision of the history of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog republic, evaluates events and replies to the questions, which today cause the greatest controversy and contradictions among the scientific community.
