City Environment as a Perception Object
Abstract: The urban environment of populated areas is the eternal theme of the confrontation between «conceptualism» and «contextualism». Motorization of city life, its saturation with information elements, new means of urban improvement, small architectural forms form a completely independent series of aesthetic interaction, this is an objective side of the development of an industrial city. The article determines the concept of the visual image of the urban environment, it has been determined the features of the visual perception of the urban environment, it has been suggested and tested a method for analyzing the city’s environment through sociological research, and proposed a technique for correcting the environment of the studied fragment of the city by means of environmental design that allows changing the existing environment in order to create a positive visual image. It is also important that the article identifies the place of this technique in the architectural design system.
