Abstract: The article describes the change in the strength and stiffness characteristics of steel structures from the influence of high temperatures arising from the fire, the work of steel structures. Various methods of fire-retardant insulation of steel structures are described. Various groups of fire retardant materials for passive fire protection are considered. Their physical properties, field of application, installation features, inherent advantages and disadvantages, their impact on the environment and human health, as well as operating features.
