The Role of the «Fifth Facade» in the Synthesis of Means of Monumental-Decorative Art with the Architecture of Buildings and Structures
Abstract: This article discusses the role of horizontal planes, which received the definition of the «fifth facade» in the theory of architecture, in the development of another concept of architecture theory – the synthesis of monumental-decorative art and architecture of buildings and structures. Its relevance is connected with the need to define the role of the «fifth facade» in the synthesis of elements of monumental-decorative art with the architecture of buildings and structures. In the process of studying this problem, the author determined the degree of its scientific knowledge. Considered and summarized the experience of international architectural practice in this field. A structurally generalizing logical model is presented that combines various manifestations of the «fifth facade» in architecture, which have the potential from the point of view of synthesis with the means of monumental-decorative art.
