Abstract: The article presents the results of the analysis of accidents related to the explosions of methane-air mixtures in underground gas-extracting installations, as well as the reasons for the explosion hazard of these installations and the ways of penetration of high-temperature sources into them. The transition from the episodic control of the methane content in the pipelines of the underground gas recovery units to the automatic control using gas analyzers of continuous action has been substantiated.

Keywords: mine, methane, gas suction unit, explosion hazard, accident, gas analyzer, control.
