Facilitation of Access to Places of Labor as a Vital Need for the Persons with Low Mobility: Architectural Perspective
Abstract: The article deals with the problem of access to the places of work for people with limited mobility. The authors consider successively some nodal points in the arrangement of disabled people’s routes on the most difficult and unsafe stretches of the road, when such people have to use different means of transport on their own and several times a day. Attention is drawn to the need for appropriate adaptation of urban transfer hubs, which combine several modes of transport simultaneously and can therefore greatly facilitate access for persons with disabilities to their places of work. A number of scientific and practical recommendations and proposals are given for functional zoning and engineering arrangement of some of the most critical sections of the way for the disabled when they use the facilities of this type. On the basis of the stated material, a conclusion is made about the necessity of making appropriate changes to the existing practice of arrangement of low-mobile people’s ways of getting around, who have to use several kinds of transport during their trips to work.
