Social and Economic Prerequisites for the Formation of Museum and Exhibition Complexes in the Cities of Donbass

Abstract: This article is aimed at identifying the degree of effectiveness of the formation of museum and exhibition complexes in the Donetsk region in terms of economics and social demand. The article deals with the problems of the functioning of traditional museums and exhibition spaces, caused by the transformation of the social and economic conditions in which they are located, and the modernization of museum work. The identified problems prove that museums are redefining their place and role in modern society, mastering and implementing the latest communication, organizational and information technologies, developing network partnerships, looking for ways of productive interaction with authorities, society and other subjects of social activity, thereby forming a completely a new type of museum institution. Based on the results of the study, the trends in the formation of museum and exhibition complexes in the cities of Donbass are determined.
