Abstract: The energy efficiency of using a hybrid power plant in the design of an N3 vehicle was investigated in the article. The KamAZ 53212 model vehicle was selected for research as an example. The vehicle is considered to be equipped with the simplest parallel hybrid power plant, which contains one electric machine between the internal combustion engine and the gearbox. The electric machine has two operating modes: engine mode and generator mode. The process of movement of the selected vehicle is considered in the conditions of the main driving cycle on the road for trucks in accordance with GOST R 54810-2011 standard. A rational management strategy for the hybrid power plant units was obtained as a result of the study. For this purpose, the authors proposed an evaluation criterion for the energy efficiency of the movement process and developed an appropriate computational optimization technique.

Keywords: motor vehicle, internal combustion engine, electric motor, hybrid power plant, driving cycle, evaluation criterion, optimization, mathematical model.
